Dan Milgram is a saber coach from San Jose, California. Dan is a former USA Junior World Team member as well as a gold-medalist at the fifteenth Maccabiah games. He has been active in California fencing for over 35 years including stints as an assistant coach for both UCSD and Stanford. Dan has a B.A. in Economics from UCLA and, in his spare time, is a Senior Director at a worldwide clinical research organization.

Sorah Shin is an epee focused coach with over 12 years of coaching and tournament organization experience. Sorah recently opened her own fencing studio in the South Bay and has helped cultivate fencers of all ages including Youth National Champions and top 10 nationally ranked fencers. She has her B.A. in Sociology from UC Berkeley and is a college consultant.

Shun@westernfencing.org Dr. Shun “Sean” Yao is an A-rated epee fencer, a certified Prévôt epee coach, and a 2018 TEAM USA member for modern pentathlon. Sean has earned his Ph.D. in electrical engineering and J.D., both from UC Davis, and is a patent attorney. He also serves on several nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations.

Head Coach of UC San Diego, Juan Ignacio Calderon comes with over 36 years of international experience across his native Spain, Germany, and the United States. Calderon has touched all aspects of fencing as a competitor, coach, international referee, federation official, and tournament organizer.
In 2016, Calderon founded the Global Fencing Network, a non-profit that fosters collaboration between fencing clubs. Currently, it includes over 200 clubs enrolled across 42 countries.
Calderon also held several executive positions at a large technology company over a 20-year span before deciding to focus on fencing full-time.
A 1992 graduate of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Calderon earned a degree in marketing and business administration.
